TeLog · Independent indie developer app

Privacy Policy

Effective: 8 July 2026 · Version 2.0.0 (replaces prior versions)

This Privacy Policy applies to TeLog (App Store name may appear as「特档案TeLog」) distributed via Apple App Store and related minimal backend services. The operator is an independent individual developer (not Tesla, not Apple). TeLog is designed for Tesla owners in mainland China. Even if listed in overseas App Store territories, personal-information practices, notice-and-consent, and disputes follow the laws of mainland China (including PIPL) and this Policy, unless mandatory local law provides otherwise. By agreeing, signing in, or continuing to use TeLog, you acknowledge this Policy. It works together with the Terms of Use (EULA).

1. Operator & scope

2. Core principles

  • Official Tesla path only: Vehicle data comes from Tesla’s official OAuth / Fleet API after you authorize the App. We do not collect or store your Tesla password.
  • On-device by default: Telemetry, drives, charges, and tracks are stored in an encrypted local database on your phone unless you separately opt in to cloud features.
  • Optional cloud needs separate consent: Cloud collection, backup/sync, and in-app family sharing require additional express consent.
  • No ad tracking: No advertising SDKs, no sale of personal information, no cross-app tracking inside the App.

3. China compliance & App Store standards

4. How vehicle data is obtained

TeLog uses a third-party app registered on Tesla’s China developer platform (developer.tesla.cn and reads vehicle data only after your authorization.

StepWhat happensVehicle telemetry via TeLog servers?
Developer registrationOperator obtains Fleet API credentials
Owner authorizationYou sign in on Tesla’s official auth page (typically auth.tesla.cn)No
Token exchangeHTTPS token proxy exchanges codes/refresh tokens; client_secret stays server-sideTokens only — no telemetry
Vehicle fetchApp calls Tesla Fleet API directlyNo (default)
On-device processingParsing, drives/charges, stats on your deviceNo
Optional cloud collectionOnly with separate consent + Cloud entitlement; encrypted copies in mainland ChinaYes (optional)

4.1 Typical OAuth scopes (as shown on Tesla’s page)

Examples of derived data: VIN, status, GPS/tracks, SOC, charging metrics, OTA, doors/locks, climate, and content you create (geofence names, notes, rates, feedback).

5. Information we process

CategoryExamplesUploaded to our servers by default?
Account / IDsTesla OAuth IDs, local device/archive IDs, Cloud status (Apple)Token proxy only; billing with Apple
Vehicle & tripsVIN, drives, tracks, charges, energyNo (on-device)
Precise locationGPS, geofences, reverse-geocoded addressesNo; coords may go to map providers
User-enteredNotes, rates, expense fields, feedback email content/screenshotsNo (email only if you send it)
Optional cloud copiesDrives/tracks/charges/state/geofences for gap-fill & backupOnly after separate consent, in China
Family sharingInvitee IDs and granted scopesWhen that feature is enabled
SupportLogs/screenshots/versions you voluntarily sendSupport tickets only

We do not collect Tesla passwords, full Contacts/Photos (unless you authorize export/share), biometrics templates, or card numbers (Apple handles payment).

6. Purposes & legal bases

Core archive features; maps; optional cloud fill-in & backup; family sharing; Cloud entitlement checks; customer support; security/compliance. Marketing unrelated to these purposes and sale of personal information are not practiced. Under PIPL, bases include consent, contract performance, and statutory obligations as applicable.

7. On-device by default & optional cloud

Default: encrypted local DB on your device. Uninstall/wipe/device backup deletion removes local data.

Optional cloud (Cloud membership): requires Cloud Collection Disclosure consent; used for continuous logging, sync, and backup; not for ads; you may stop and delete remote copies anytime.

Retention: local until you delete; cloud copies (if enabled) in mainland China, typically rolling ~365 days, deleted when cloud is turned off; support email generally ≤24 months unless law requires longer.

8. Maps & location services

For lawful maps and reverse geocoding in mainland China, TeLog may use Amap (Gaode) Open Platform with keys obtained by the operator. Coordinates and render params may be sent to Amap; Tesla passwords/tokens are not. Optional OSM Nominatim fallback may be used when allowed and Amap is unavailable.

9. Third parties

Tesla (Fleet API), Apple (App Store / StoreKit), Amap, China-region cloud hosts for token proxy / optional vault, and optional OSM Nominatim. We do not sell or rent your personal information beyond those uses and legal requirements.

10. Cloud membership & Apple payments

Cloud membership (IDs typically com.jchen.Telog.plus.monthly / com.jchen.Telog.plus.yearly; also called TeLog Plus / Cloud) is billed by Apple. We do not collect card numbers. Refunds/invoices follow Apple.

Free examples: live status, emergency tools, VIN/tires, recent drives/charges, basic stats, standard share cards, OTA history, TOU electricity settings. Cloud examples: always-on smart logging, full history, deep dashboards, battery health/value, attribution & driving reports, Vehicle Passport, family share, expense, road-trip check-ins, geofence/parking, sync/backup, PDF/Excel, premium share templates. App screens and App Store listing control.

11. Your rights

Under PIPL (and mandatory local law where applicable): access/copy, correction, deletion, withdraw consent, stop use, complain to authorities. Use Settings → Privacy & Data, or email service@telog.cn with subject “Privacy request”. We aim to respond within 15 business days.

12. Children

TeLog is for adult owners/managers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14. Guardians may contact us to delete mistaken collections.

13. Security

On-device encryption and device lock; client_secret not in the binary; HTTPS; encrypted cloud vault when enabled; least-privilege scopes; incident notice and remediation as required by law. No system is perfectly secure—protect your device and Apple ID.

14. Cross-border notes

15. Updates

We may update this Policy and post a new effective date. Material changes will be surfaced in-app or prominently. Continued use after updates means acceptance; otherwise stop using and delete data.
