This Privacy Policy describes how Jian Chen (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the mobile application Today Energy Check (the “App”).

Summary

Core diary data is stored on your device by default.
The in-app score is a self-assessment, not a medical diagnosis.
Optional subscriptions are processed by Apple (App Store) and/or Google (Google Play).
Optional AI is off by default; if enabled, a minimized summary may be sent to our server and processed by OpenAI (see below).
Optional family share links may store a limited summary on our server temporarily.

1. Scope of the App

Today Energy Check is a wellness planning tool. It helps you record how you feel, view a simple daily score, see trends, and optionally receive gentle pacing suggestions. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment, or emergency guidance.

2. Health information & self-assessment (not a diagnosis)

The number displayed in the App is a self-assessment calculated from information you enter (such as symptom levels and optional inputs). It is not a medical diagnosis, laboratory result, clinical risk score, or substitute for professional medical advice. For emergencies, contact local emergency services or your clinician.

These third-party sites are for general education only. They do not endorse the App and are not used to compute a medical diagnosis inside the App.

Third-party AI (OpenAI)

If you enable optional AI personalization, the App sends a minimized structured summary of your saved check-ins (dates; whether you indicated dialysis the prior day; fatigue, nausea, and dizziness levels on a 0–2 scale) to the app operator’s backend server you configure (EXPO_PUBLIC_AI_SERVER_URL). That server may forward a text prompt derived from this summary to OpenAI (OpenAI, L.L.C.) via the OpenAI API to generate short wellness-planning suggestions. OpenAI acts as a subprocessor for this feature. OpenAI’s privacy practices are described in their policy: https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy/. The App shows an in-app disclosure (what is sent and who receives it) and asks for your confirmation before this optional transmission.

3. Information we process

Depending on how you use the App, we may process the following categories of information:

Health-related inputs you enter (e.g., symptom levels, optional weight, optional notes about your day). Stored locally on your device unless you export or use optional features below.
App settings (e.g., language, AI opt-in).
Subscription status as reflected by Apple/Google to unlock Pro features (we do not receive your full payment card number).
AI inputs (optional): If you enable AI personalization, a minimized summary of recent check-ins (without identifiers) may be transmitted to our server; prompts may be processed by OpenAI as described in “Third-party AI (OpenAI)” above.
Family share links (optional): If you create a shareable link, a limited summary may be stored on our server so the link can open in a web browser; links expire after a limited period.
Support communications if you email us (e.g., your email address and message content).

4. Subscriptions, payments & Terms of Use (EULA)

Optional Pro features may require an active auto-renewable subscription purchased through the Apple App Store and/or Google Play. Payment processing is handled by Apple/Google. We do not collect or store your full payment card number.

Subscription title, length, price, auto-renewal, and cancellation are presented at purchase time and can be managed in your Apple ID or Google account subscription settings.

5. How we use information

Provide the App (display scores, trends, optional Pro features).
Subscription entitlement verification (via Apple/Google mechanisms and, if applicable, our server verification).
Optional AI (only if you opt in).
Optional family links (only if you generate a link).
Respond to support requests.
Comply with law and protect security where required.

6. Sharing of information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers who help us operate the App (for example, hosting infrastructure and OpenAI for optional AI, or infrastructure for family links), subject to appropriate safeguards. Payment processing is handled by Apple/Google as described above.

7. Retention

Local data remains on your device until you delete it using in-app erase or uninstall the App.
AI requests are processed according to our server configuration; we aim to minimize retention of inputs.
Family share links expire automatically after a limited time (see App behavior at the time of use).
Subscription records are retained by Apple/Google per their policies.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed on our systems. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

9. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port personal data. For data stored only on your device, you can use Export or Delete in Settings (where available). To exercise rights related to data processed by us, contact jianchen8863988@gmail.com.

10. Children

The App is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction).

11. International users

If you use the App from outside your home country, your information may be processed in countries where our service providers operate.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. The “Last updated” date will change when we post revisions. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
