This Privacy Policy describes how VisaSafe ("VisaSafe", "the App"), developed and operated by an
individual developer ("we", "us", "our"), handles information when you use the App on iPhone and iPad.
It is designed to reflect the App's current implementation and to meet Apple App Store expectations for transparency,
privacy, and user control.
Important: VisaSafe provides educational planning, organization, and reminder tools only. It does
not provide legal advice, immigration advice, tax advice, or professional services, and it is
not a government service or your school's official international office.
1. Who we are
VisaSafe is published by an independent developer. For privacy questions, legal privacy requests, or support related
to personal information, contact:
hello@familymedvault.com.
2. Summary
VisaSafe does not require a user account or login for its current release.
Most information you enter is stored locally on your device.
We do not sell personal information.
We do not use third-party advertising SDKs or cross-app behavioral tracking in the App's current release.
Optional paid features are processed through Apple In-App Purchase / StoreKit; we do not receive your full payment card details.
VisaSafe may fetch public policy summary content from a hosted JSON feed and cache that content locally on your device.
You may export a readable PDF of your local data and delete local app data using in-app controls where available.
3. Information we process
Depending on how you use VisaSafe, the App may process the following categories of information:
Visa / immigration planning data that you choose to enter, such as visa type, program dates, document dates, and optional work authorization planning dates.
Academic task data that you choose to enter, such as task titles, due dates, completion status, weight, and optional course labels.
Optional task image attachments that you choose to add through the camera or photo library.
Mood check-in data, such as stress intensity, selected sources, timestamps, and time-to-complete metadata for the quick check-in flow.
Guide checklist progress that you create by checking guide-related tasks in the App.
Weekly report snapshots that the App generates and stores locally when you use weekly-report features.
App settings and preferences, such as language, theme preference, consent state, and local app flags needed for feature flow.
Subscription entitlement state needed to unlock paid features on-device, as synchronized with Apple purchase information.
Notification permission status and locally scheduled reminder metadata used to deliver reminders on your device.
Basic technical/network metadata that may be exposed to Apple, your internet provider, or your hosting provider when the App requests the public policy feed or opens external support/legal links.
4. Sensitive and user-entered content
Some information you enter may relate to immigration status, deadlines, stress, or personal planning. You decide
what to enter. Please avoid storing unnecessary personal identifiers in free-text fields, and protect your device with
a passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, and other security settings offered by Apple.
5. How we use information
To provide core App features such as status radar, identity timeline, task tracking, weekly reports, mood trends, and guide checklists.
To generate on-device rule-based reminders and safety assessments from the dates and information you provide.
To cache and display public policy summaries in a more readable format.
To remember your settings and preferences.
To enable, restore, and enforce subscription-based features in accordance with Apple's purchase systems and rules.
To provide export, preview, and sharing flows that you explicitly initiate.
To comply with applicable law or lawful requests directed to us.
6. Legal bases for processing (EEA / UK users, where applicable)
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on:
Performance of a contract - to provide the App features you request.
Consent - for permissions such as notifications, camera access, or photo library access where required.
Legitimate interests - to secure, maintain, improve, and support the App, balanced against your rights and expectations.
Legal obligation - where we must comply with applicable law.
7. Where data is stored
VisaSafe is designed primarily as an on-device app for its current release.
User-entered visa data, tasks, mood entries, checklist progress, local report history, and preferences are primarily stored on your device using local app storage.
Optional task image attachments are stored locally on your device within the App's file space.
Policy summary content may be fetched from a publicly hosted JSON feed and then cached locally on your device.
We do not currently operate a VisaSafe cloud account system for syncing your personal records across devices.
8. Policy feed and external links
The App may retrieve public policy-summary content from a publicly hosted feed that we publish. This content is
intended to summarize public information in a shorter, more understandable form and is not a guarantee of completeness,
timeliness, or legal accuracy.
When VisaSafe checks for updated policy summaries, your device may connect to our hosted JSON feed.
When you tap an external source or official link, the App may open a browser or system handler outside the App.
Those external websites and services have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.
9. Notifications
VisaSafe may request permission to send notifications so it can schedule reminders on your device, including reminders
for deadlines, mood check-ins, weekly reports, and policy digests where applicable. Notification scheduling is
performed locally on-device in the App's current implementation.
You can disable notifications at any time in iOS/iPadOS Settings.
10. Payments, subscriptions, and Apple
Optional paid features may be offered through Apple In-App Purchase. Apple processes payments, receipts, renewal
status, cancellations, refunds, and certain purchase-related data under Apple's own terms and privacy policies.
We do not receive your full payment card number.
We may store local entitlement state on your device so the App can unlock features appropriately.
Subscription management, refunds, and billing disputes are primarily handled through Apple.
11. Sharing with third parties
We limit sharing as much as reasonably possible for the App's current design.
Apple: for App distribution, In-App Purchase processing, platform services, and device-level services you use.
Hosting providers: only to the extent necessary to host our public legal pages, support page, and policy JSON feed.
Email providers: if you contact us by email, your message will be processed through normal email infrastructure.
System share targets: if you choose to export/share a PDF or other content, your chosen destination may process that information under its own privacy rules.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for
cross-app behavioral advertising. We do not knowingly use advertising identifiers to track you
across third-party apps or websites in the current release.
12. Retention
On-device information remains on your device until you delete it, remove the App, reset local app data, or iOS removes it according to system behavior.
Cached policy feed data may remain on-device until replaced, cleared, or removed with the App's storage.
If you email support, we may retain your correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, document, or protect against abuse, fraud, or legal risk.
We do not promise indefinite retention of user data on external servers because VisaSafe is not currently designed as a cloud backup service.
13. Export, preview, sharing, and deletion
Where the App provides export or deletion features, you may use them to manage your information.
VisaSafe may generate a readable PDF export of your locally stored data on your device.
The App may open a preview of that PDF, and you may then choose whether to share, save, print, or otherwise handle it using system tools.
If you delete all local data inside the App, locally stored records may be erased from the device as implemented in the App.
14. Security
We use reasonable measures appropriate to a small, on-device utility app, including reliance on standard iOS/iPadOS
protections, secure platform APIs, and limiting unnecessary data collection. However, no method of storage,
transmission, or computing environment is perfectly secure.
You are responsible for securing your device and for deciding what information to store in the App.
15. International transfers
If you contact us by email or interact with Apple or third-party infrastructure, information may be processed in
countries outside your own, subject to the policies and safeguards used by those providers. Because VisaSafe is
primarily on-device for its current release, cross-border transfer risk is more limited than in a cloud-account model,
but it may still arise in support, hosting, payment, or external-link contexts.
16. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights such as:
to know what personal information is processed,
to request access to information we hold in support correspondence,
to request correction or deletion where applicable,
to object to or restrict certain processing,
to withdraw consent where processing depends on consent, and
to lodge a complaint with an appropriate supervisory authority.
For information stored locally in the App, you can often exercise control directly on your device through in-app export
and deletion tools. For Apple-managed purchase or account data, please use Apple's own privacy and account-management tools.
17. California privacy notice (summary)
If California law applies, you may have rights to know, access, correct, and delete certain personal information,
subject to exceptions. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are commonly used for
cross-context behavioral advertising in connection with VisaSafe's current implementation.
18. Children
VisaSafe is intended for a general audience but is not directed to children under 13, or under the minimum age
required for consent in your jurisdiction. If you are under the required age, do not use the App unless permitted by
applicable law and supervised as required.
19. No legal, immigration, or professional advice
VisaSafe processes dates and user-entered inputs to generate reminders, risk indicators, summaries, and educational
content. These outputs are informational only. They may be incomplete, outdated, or inapplicable to your situation.
You remain solely responsible for verifying deadlines, visa conditions, school requirements, and legal obligations with
official sources or qualified professionals.
20. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect product, legal, operational, or platform changes.
When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes may be reflected in the App or on the
hosted legal page where practical. Continued use of the App after the effective date of the updated policy constitutes
acceptance where permitted by applicable law.
